Dear B: To Bareleg?

Dear B,

Since Easter's over and we're all springing into April, is it acceptable to lose the tights and go bare leg? My legs are super pale but I'm thinking it's now or never, right? HELP.

Lylas,
XXXXXX

Dear Barbara Walters,

With Easter came many a fashion tragedy, and while I tried to focus on the good book at Sunday service I found myself shivering at all the short dresses and bare legs. Why? Not because of the shining paleness or the bright colors - because there were plenty of Easter eggs out there - but because it was less than 60 degrees and everybody had visible goosebumps.

As for me and my limbs, I choose to go bareleg once it's warm enough out that I will remain happy and goosebump-free. Have a cute dress that's akin to the Grace Potter mini? Keep it safely in your closet until the warmer weather arrives. Don't waste a good outfit on the cold and cloudy.

And if all else fails, ask yourself if Connie Britton ('s hair) would wear that. Works every time.

xoxo-B

Passing the Bar.

Saturday night I went for drinks with some of my favorite girls. A rarity in many cases since we’re usually too busy being with boring people or out of town; neither an excuse but both valid cases. We found a table in the middle of it all and started gushing about recent love affairs, how to avoid a stage five clinger in a wheelchair and well, everything we were ahem, blessed to be witnessing. Classy girls don’t kiss in bars but apparently they do buy a table of inattentive guys a round while traipsing around in ripped tights. Here’s the good and bad of what to do, and more importantly not do, while out at a hip establishment on a Saturday night.

Never buy a man a drink

Never wear ripped clothing – tights are the worse! - unless you're on Skins

Never wear snakeskin

Only get felt up if you're in a tutu - if you're wearing a tutu you're asking for it

Never poll friends you don't know

Do scale everything in conversation on a level of 1-Bon Jovi - you don't want to set standards too high

No hoodies unless you just got off work at Lulu Lemon or your significant other is a Def Jam recording artist

Totally act bored if a guy with chest hair freely flowing from his too-deep V neck keeps talking

Always let them come to you

Silhouettes are everything.

There are shows on tv that are awesome, and then there's Honey Boo Boo. I refuse to get into that for fear of losing you forever - you're welcome. So while I rarely have the time or attention span to watch anything for longer than 30-ish minutes I have found myself falling back in love with Mad Men. Why? John Hamm in a suit, for starters. Also because it's everything I love wrapped into one series - great storyline, an always evolving ad agency, vintage everything, attractive people who are also interesting and the fashion. I die for pretty much everything worn by any female on any given episode.  So yes, the show itself is educational really for us twenty-something vixen career types, teaching invaluable lessons for work and play through chic leading ladies, i.e. Betty, Joan and Peggy.

So what have we learned?

Attractive bosses make work more fun.

A fitted pencil skirt and heels are always flattering.

A good lunch outing makes everything better.

Pearls and diamonds are baller.

If you feel like he's going to cheat on you he probably already has. More than once.

If you want to be taken seriously stop dressing like a little girl.

Embrace feminine fabrics. Oh, and fitted dresses. Silhouettes are everything.

Only boring people are bored.

Don't throw your significant other a surprise party and make yourself the entertainment. It will always be awkward.

Ask for what you want.

Happy Monday,
xoxo.
